Finishing and polishing of precious metal jewelry produced by additive manufacturing (AM) is one of the key areas requiring research to aid in the broader adoption of the technology. One of the advantages of additive manufacturing is the possibility to make very geometrically complex jewelry designs. These designs, by their very nature, can be highly challenging to finish to a fine polish. This paper will largely detail research work carried out investigating various mass finishing and other techniques including case studies for the finishing and polishing of AM-produced jewelry.
