Any jewelry caster would agree that it would be highly beneficial to understand the mode of solidification molten metal undergoes as it enters the mold. In this paper explore the process of casting with temperature gradient molds and directional solidification and why it’s a highly desirable goal for jewelry castings. The observations in this report predict the future development of controlled directional solidification technology.
