Stringent environmental regulations for electroplating and metal finishing operations at the federal, state and local level require changes in technology and methodology for jewelry electroplates.

The speaker will present an overview of research projects conducted by the U.S. EPA Water Engineering Research Laboratory, Cincinnati, Ohio for a group of R.I. jewelry firms and the source reduction project for the Southeast Jewelry Platers by the Massachusetts department of Environmental Management, Office of Safe Waste Management.
