The purpose of this paper is to present the state of the art in PC based CAD/CAM for the jewelry industry. Recent advancements in personal computers and their software have at long last brought this space age technology to jewelers. The reason it is restricted to PC based technology is to keep the focus on affordability and practicality. A commitment of between $25,000 and $45,000 will not only enable a jeweler to gain insight into the CAD/CAM world, but even allow him to do so in a cost effective way.
