Many types of casting are available to the part manufacturers. A review of the available technologies used in the jewelry industry as well as those imployed in other industries will be reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of each method will be discussed.

Metallurgical properties relating to castings achieved from each process will be reviewed. The theory behind the process including effects on shrinkage, gas porosity, crystallography, etc. will be discussed.
