1995 - Flexible Horizontal Continuous Casting System

$0.00

This presentation addresses the thought process and eventual design of a horizontal continuous casting system capable of producing a variety of cast sizes in the form of slabs, billets, tube and wire. Making matters more complex, these different cast shapes are required in many silver-base and copper-base alloys.

Pros and cons of electric induction versus electric resistance heating are discussed, as well as the importance of a suitable crucible material and the necessity of modern instrumentation.

The continuous casting system of choice is now installed. Operational logic and further processing of cast tubes is explained in detail.
