This review of the processes required to manufacture platinum jewelry feedstocks covers such topics as melting, assaying, cold working to form mill products, annealing and investment casting with consideration of specialty items such as seamless tube and machining procedures. Emphasis is on the special procedures and considerations required to handle platinum. Conclusions note the need for attention to detail and cleanliness to be successful handling platinum.
