This paper will examine various platinum alloys, most of which are currently not in widespread use. It will discuss their mechanical and chemical properties, and how they can help overcome specific problems in manufacturing platinum jewellery. Through identifying the alloy’s behaviour, specific applications for their use will be suggested.
