This presentation will provide an opinion on the present state of investment powder technology and review the types of jewellery investment powder that are currently available internationally. Examples will be given of the quality of castings that can be achieved and the influence of investing and casting techniques on the results. The possible future of investment powders will be covered, explaining the techniques currently being employed within research and development departments and the directions these may lead to. Will it be possible to mass-produce jewellery by other processes or is the plaster-silica investment here to stay with all its advantages and drawbacks?
