The shipping of any precious metal waste or scrap is strictly regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. But there are exclusions to these regulations you can take advantage of. This presentation defines the Materials of Trade exclusions allowed under Section 173.6 of the DOT Regulations - Title 49CFR. A thorough breakdown of the reduced requirements of this exclusion and a comparison to the routine requirements of the regulations will be made. The potential cost savings of implementing this section of the regulations will be brought to light and pertinent definitions of text used within the DOT regulations will be explained.
