This paper briefly discusses the various elements used for improving the tarnish-resistance properties of silver and makes comparisons between them based on new, quantitative tarnish-resistance testing. It will address the various methods of improving tarnish resistance, such as the use of anti-tarnish surface coatings, and includes a brief description of the chemical process of tarnishing of sterling silver products.
