This paper presents the basics of laser safety with a particular emphasis on how those basics apply to laser welders used in the manufacture of jewelry. Topics include equipment safety requirements of the Federal Laser Product Performance Standard, safe operating requirements of the American National Standard for safe use of lasers, and effective ways to meet OSHA requirements for laser safety programs.
