As more and more designers and manufacturers incorporate blackened silver into their lines, the industry needs to find the most consistent and effective method to blacken silver that will provide a durable finish. This research paper compares various methods of blackening silver alloys. In addition to testing the effectiveness of the blackening process on a sampling of textures and patterns, the researchers will examine the quality of the surface treatment using a series of tests that simulate prolonged real-world wear. The goal is to determine which blackening methods are most effective for jewelry designers and manufacturers.
