Forming metal by using dies is one of the oldest methods of jewelry manufacturing. Two of the many benefits of die forming are that very thin metal can be given fine detail and it is very easy to finish and polish. There are numerous paths that can be followed in the creation of forming dies. These ‘paths’ will be well explored and outlined. The many techniques used to create forming dies will be covered, from ancient to modern techniques, all of which can be made in a small studio setting.
